Excellent insights, expressed so well. I find it quite interesting to ponder how we've been able to influence what we perceive over time. The innovations have sometimes been enormous and influence our culture profoundly. The reciprocal is also true of course, but the way our incentives are structured often leads us away from more life-enriching forms. I like how this piece does some work leading us towards those forms. Thanks.
Thank you Bastiaan for that beautifully written and thought provoking article. I teach history of photography at a local community college and I love to inspire my students to fall in love with prints. They live in a digital world and it’s fascinating to see their emotional reactions when they hold that piece of paper in their hands and really see their work for the first time.
Hear, hear. Bastiaan you could not have said it better. I attend a weekly breakfast with other photographers in the south Charlotte area. The purpose is to show and discuss prints, paper and exhibition. As you drive around Holland, if you pass by the village of Nykirk, please give it a wave and say “Eric says hello. “ I lived there from 1974 to 1977.

You are so welcome. And great to hear that you are teaching to the youth. It is so important that they get this love. ❤️
