After nearly two years of waiting, in January I finally was able to purchase Fujifilm's 30mm Fujinon Tilt-Shift (T/S) lens. I'm reluctant to jump to conclusions at the front end of a review, but for those of you contemplating adding this lens just know up front that this amazing, tack sharp, edge-to-edge, technical lens comes with some caveats... actually a lot of 'em.
For years I owned and treasured my Nikkor 24mm T/S lens. Bob and I printed a 5' x 9' image on canvas that I took with that Nikkor lens in the Canadian Rockies many years ago. That one 12MP shot on a Nikon D700 was tack sharp from foreground to distant mountains. I always felt that it was arguably the finest lens Nikon ever made.

However, the Fujifilm 30mm T/S is in a completely different league altogether. It is without a doubt the best designed, most rugged, and technically precise lens I've ever owned. I've experimented with it daily for five weeks while abroad, so I don't pretend to be an expert in its use. I intend to keep climbing the learning curve, though.
