Working title for this was Ghost Ships. Original photograph was a reject from a completely different project. That title and those words didn't stick but they gave me a guide post, a beginning. Further work focused my vision and along with that more words came along with that.

Of course, we use words either verbally or in writing when discussing photographs or photography. What I want to discuss briefly today is how important they are when making your photography. In fact, they are more important before, during, and after making a photograph than what you might believe. I’ll use examples of my own projects, and photographs that I’ve discussed here on quite a few occasions. I’ll also share how they shaped a few recent projects of mine and how I came to discover just how important they are.
